Nifeliz R125GX Collectible Motorcycle Model Building Kit Review

I had ridden motorcycle for around 10 years before I got married. It was a period of pursuing speed and freedom, and I was dreaming of buying a dual-sport motorcycle to have a tour. But its high pricing always kept me flinching from it. To comfort my thirst of an on and off road motorcycle, I got myself a replica.
So today what we are going to review is a motorcycle building kit. First thing first, let's study its details.
-Set Details-
This product is called Nifeliz R125GX Collectible Motorcycle Model Building Kit. We can easily get to know that it is a modified version of the BMW R1250 GS from the set name and the appearance of it on the box. This set consists of 2369 pieces and the recommended age is 16 and up showed on the box.
Now it is time for us to open the box and see what there are in it. Wow, an instruction pamphlet, a sticker sheet and a pile of component bags.
Let's count the bags of the components, one, two, three... there are a total of 24 bags except the tires and the hubs.
-Completion-
As you know, this is my second Nifeliz building set though I have some other sets. I am fond of building bricks because the building process can stop me thinking about any other things and attract me just to focus on the build. It's a kind of relax and enjoyment. It took me about 8 hours in total to complete this Nifeliz R125GX Collectible Motorcycle Model Building Kit. This was the biggest motorcycle building kit I had ever seen. Its scale was 1:5. In this scale, we could see the details clearly even we kept a certain distance away from it.
Looking at it from a distance, its head looks like a waterfowl's head with a long beak. And its color scheme is blue, white, gray and red, almost the same with the original car's Rally Style.
The dimension of this motorcycle model is 12.5in in height, 6.5in in width and 18in in length. For this model, if we want to display, it can be only displayed its landscape on some narrow shelf or cabinet. If we want to show it at an angle of 45 degrees or some other angles, a larger and deeper shelf, cabinet or table top is needed. I think showing it in an angle of 45 degrees is the best position to display its beauty.
One thing during the building process I needed to quote was that some components’ colors showed on the instruction book were not so accurate that it was a little difficult for me to find out the right components during my build.
-About BMW R 1250 GS-
We all have heard of BMW Motorrad as it's a so famous company. BMW R1250 GS is one of the dual sport motorcycles of the BMW GS family. And it is also one of the world's most popular touring enduro.
In general, the design philosophy of this GS motorcycle remains the same with its striking front and typical GS flyline. So, it can be stated that the BMW R 1250 GS retains the previous design elements with a variation in the colors. We can find four different colors of this model, namely, Style Triple Black, Style Ice Grey, Style Rallye and '40 Years of GS' colors sold in limited editions, and each color variant gives it its very own character.
Inside the BMW R1250 GS, it has a two-cylinder boxer engine with 4-valves per cylinder and variable valve timing. A form of variable valve timing broadens the power-band, increases fuel efficiency and decreases emissions. The boxer engine of the R 1250 GS fascinates from the very first glance, it displaces 1254 cc (76.5 cu in) with 102.5 mm bore and 76 mm stroke. The intake camshaftes have two cam lobes per valve that can be switched within one cam revolution between partial-throttle and open-throttle cam profiles. Power and torque claimed by BMW are higher than its predecessor model at 134 horsepower (100 KW) at 7750 rpm and 105.5 pound force-feet (143.0 N·m) at 6250 rpm, with 4% better fuel economy.
And the R 1250 GS range receives innovations in adaptive cornering lights. Alongside, we can find the headlight reflector that can swivel in around 30 degrees arc. It means when this bike negotiates any corner and its headlight gets on the dipped beam, it pivots and aims its beam to a direction of where the model gets headed.
Moreover, we can even adjust the height with the pillion on board. And that’s where the new edition is a clear winner when compared to the old one! According to the company, BMW hints at the fact that it has updated the HSC or hill start control system on its motorcycle alongside updated the HSC Pro. Additional functions are passenger seats, heated rider seat and even heated grips that offer a total of five stages of the heat adjustment, controlled through TFT instrument.
Lastly, the R 1250 GS model has gotten the Pro riding modes besides the road as well as rain riding modes. And these encompass dynamic pro, dynamic, enduro as well as enduro pro. The enduro pro and dynamic pro riding modes has individualization choices for the purpose of setting the motorcycle to the individual requirements! No matter on or off road, the R 1250 GS gets ready for our adventure.

I am so fascinated with the motorcycle riding and brick building, and each glance of this completed Nifeliz R125GX Collectible Motorcycle Model makes me feel excited and fulfilled. This thing is an exquisite modification of BMW R 1250 GS which is an aspirational motorcycle for me who likes the motorbike riding. Now let's dig out all the features of this incredible motorcycle model.
On the whole, you can feel its sporty spirit and clean color scheme. With its waterfowl's beak, it is unique and always heading forward to discover something new and unknown.
Firstly, let's look at the front end of this thing. Its asymmetrical front end attracts me most to study it. Its long beak consists of some white panels and blue panels, which can well reveal the shape design of the real motorcycle's front end. Very impressive!
And then up to the light system of the front end. The turning lights are represented by a slope transparent brick and a round yellow lucid piece which are inserted into the head of this model. Their shapes are just like the real ones, we can imagine how the real lights flicker when the turning lights button is pressed. The real LED turn signals with cruising light option provide an eye-catching appearance with constantly dimmed lighting at the front.
In the middle of the two turning lights, the headlights of this motorcycle model are made up of a round transparent plate and two rectangle transparent plates. Its shape design is like the real headlights and very attractive.
For the real headlights, the full-LED swiveling and adaptive headlights help improve illumination and constant range - to the side, up and down. Depending on the ground gradient, payload and inclination in curves, the LED lights swivel. This way, the light is with you wherever you ride. Furthermore, the headlights are designed with Welcome and Goodbye function as well as the driving lights. When we switch on the ignition, the headlights seem nodding to say “Hello”; and when we switch off the ignition, the headlights dim down like to say “Goodbye”. This function is really warm.
And then move up to the windshield of this model, some dark transparent panels are used to stand for the windshield. The angle of it can be adjusted manually and the height of its central part also can be adjusted. Maybe these designs want to realize the functions of the real one. Its shape is not like the real one but I like it as it is interesting.
We can lower and raise the real windshield with an adjustment wheel beside the TFT display. And the V-shape in the middle of the real windshield is for a better sight view of the front.
Under the windshield, let's take a look at the “cockpit”of this motorcycle model. A round brick with a speedometer decal stands for the TFT display of the real motorcycle. It's a pity that this is not a so accurate and simulated design for the real TFT display is in all its glory.
TFT display offers clear, colorful, and dynamic views of all of the bike's vital information with a crispness an LCD screen could never match. This is a good thing, since there is a lot of information the GS is throwing back at the rider to decipher.
Beside the TFT display, there should be an adjustment wheel of the windscreen on the real motorcycle. On this model, there's no related detailed design as its windscreen doesn't need to be adjusted with that. It's fine here, but if it also can be adjusted like the real one, it will be cooler.
And now let's move our eyes to the mirrors of this thing, which are represented by some black bricks with the same shape of the real mirrors. The real high-quality HP mirrors are made of milled aluminium and underscore the sporty character of your bike. The aerodynamic styling combined with the low vibration design ensures excellent visibility.
Under the mirrors are the handlebar parts. They are designed realistically but not so detailed. Maybe it is difficult to show many other functional buttons like light switch, horn button, etc. It's OK that the clutch lever can't really control the clutch, after all it is a motorcycle model. But the front brake lever can't control the brake disc, which may be one of the points that can be improved.
One thing of this motorcycle model I should highlight is that we turn the handlebars, the front wheel turns accordingly.
How does this realize? Let's take a close look at the structure below the handlebars. The burly front forks connect the handlebars with the front wheel. That is it. The front telescopic forks consist of two black tubes and two gray tubes, and there should be springs in them because the shock absorber is placed in the front forks. However, the real R1250 GS’ front suspension comprises forks, a shock absorber and a telelever arm that connects the forks to the chassis. The telelever arm separates the two functions of guiding the wheel and absorbing the undulations on the road. Only in 1:5 large scale can we find these details so clearly. How cool!
Some place ahead of the front forks is the front fender of this thing, which are made up of some black panels and technic liftarms. I am a little disappointed at the shape of it as it is not a special cured piece, the top of it is pretty flat.
Under the front fender is the pretty large-sized front wheel with simulated brake disc and brake pad. They are so detailed, I like them. With these, I would think how the front brake system works when the real motorcycle is on the run.
Now let's unveil the features in the middle part of this thing. On the very top, some white and blue panels combine together to get the fuel tank. The shape and color scheme are almost the same with the real one. And the protuberant part may stand for the fuel tank cover of the real motorcycle. Very special design.
Next to the tank, the black part consisting of some black panels, technic liftarms, pins, pin joiners round and one gray liftarm is the rider and passenger's seats, the gradient of which is a bit larger than the real one. It mustn't be so comfortable to ride on that as the real one, I think. For the real seats, optional seat heating system can ensure that the rider and passenger enjoy the tour even more comfortably.
The 1:5 scale endows this model much more detailed features. Let's continue to go through them.
The engine is just under the fuel tank, we can find the simulated H4 engine part with fin-type dark gray and black panels covers on both sides. It is cool and vivid.
Beside the engine is the gearbox of this model, we can see clearly the gearbox’s structure. The first impression of the gearbox is incredible and magical.
Under the gearbox, we will find a black pin and a gray pin. The black pin stands for the foot gear shifter and the gray pin represents the rider's foot rest pedal. If we clockwise rotate the foot gear shifter 45 degrees, the speed gear changes. It is said that this model is with 6 speed transmissions, actually there are only 3 speed transmissions (neutral position, first and second gear switches). You can find that if you test it with an electronic motor. Maybe there is simply no space to implement that. It is fine for me only with 3 speed transmissions as it is a display model.
When we rotate the foot gear shifter to the first or second gear except the neutral position and push the rear wheel or the landed model manually, we can see the yellow pistons with transparent engine blocks move up and down. And the higher the gear is in, the faster the pistons move. Impressive, right?
Actually there is a stand for this motorcycle model, it is the centerstand of itself. This foldable centerstand seems a bit too thin and weak to support the huge heavy body of this model. It is inclined to fall down when it stands on its centerstand for a bit long time. A little despondent. I am trying to find some other components to build another sturdy centerstand for it but not yet.
And one additional part I should address is the display stand for this motorbike model which can remedy the centerstand's deficiency. There is a UCS-style display plaque on the front of the stand with all the impressive data about its origin motorbike - BMW R 1250 GS. This stand is very stout and steady and not easy to tilt when the model is placed on it to display.
On the other side of this motorcycle model, we also can see the yellow pistons with transparent engine blocks and the other parts of the gearbox. And a gray pin stands for the rider's other foot rest pedal but the black pin here should be the foot brake pedal.
I am wondering what this black technic pole reverser handle stands for. So I guess it may be the passenger's foot rest pedal as there is one on each side of this model.
Last but not least, let's move our eyes to the rear part of this model. Also from the top to the bottom. The first things I want to share are the three luggage boxes. Even though the color scheme and the materials are not the same with real ones, I still like them as they all can be opened up.
Under the middle luggage carrier, a red brick and two slop transparent bricks connect together to form the rear lights of this model. And two yellow transparent bricks on both sides of the rear lights stand for the rear brake and turning lights. Their locations are like the real ones, very detailed.
And under the rear light, a blue piece may stand for the license plate because it is in the license plate place if it was a real motorbike. A more veracious design would be much better.
Looking ahead at the back of this model, we can see clearly the rear suspension. With this rear suspension, it must be very well to resist the attack from the road, I guess.
Then the exhaust pipe of this model really shows the big of the real one even though its shape and position are not so similar with the real one. It is still acceptable.
Looking down further, on the left side of the rear part, the single-sided swing arm of this model is an eye attracting design. The single-sided swing arm is made up of many gray technic pins, liftarms and a big wing-type panel. It should be very strong, but the one of this motorbike can't work very well because of the heavy weight from the luggage boxes. On the real motorbike, the single-sided swingarm means less unsprung weight on the motorcycle, which means that we can expect performance gains at the highest levels of performance.
The rear fender is connected with the single-sided swing arm. It has the same problem with the front fender that the piece is flat and not in special arc shape.
Generally speaking, it is an exquisite and cool motorbike model. I like it pretty much even though it gets some flaws or some points that I expect them to be improved and want to display it on my shelf or cabinet in my room. So this is my final creation and you can see just how amazing it is to sit on this shelf for my beloved display pieces.
-Comparison With Lego 42130 Motorcycle Building Set-
Nifeliz's sets are not Lego but compatible. For your friendly reference, compared with Lego's same scale product 42130 motorcycle building set which prices $229, this Nifeliz R125GX Collectible Motorcycle building set is a much more economic alternative and only costs $89.
And this Nifeliz building set has almost the same quality with Lego 42130 set and everything lines up perfectly. Furthermore, Lego 42130 set contains only 1925 pieces but Nifeliz R125GX set gets 2369 pieces, which brings more challenging build and detailed designs. From these sides, I would prefer Nifeliz set. What about you?

In conclusion, the Nifeliz R125GX Collectible Motorcycle Model Building Kit is in a good scale to show the details and well designed to display the real motorbike's power and unique appearance. And the pieces connect with each other tightly even I vibrate it without any piece falling off.
Moreover its numerous functions can be enjoyed during the whole building process and showed off when my friends come to our place. It is a cool decor and can be displayed in many different angles as there are different features in different parts. I highly recommend this cool set to you guys if you're the same one as me who is fond of motorbike adventures and wants a true motorbike replica.
